This was very hard to photograph with all the glitter causing reflection and the many layers creating shadow, but the effect in person is spectacular.
The card instructions were found on SplitCoast Stampers site. I located the Peek-a-Boo Card by Norma Lee after doing a search in techniques for "circle cards". The idea inspired me to give it a try, but felt it would be too long a post if I saved it for the blog hop. So here it is as a stand alone.
Before I start with my interpretation, I must refer you to Norma's Post for all the measurements and assembly details. I followed them to the letter, except where noted and I could not improve on her instructions, they are clear and easily followed. So onto this card.
Using the orange card stock, cut the base as instructed. Then using the pattern paper, picked out the areas that I wanted in my card and cut those out using the measurements. Glued the panels together after scoring and adhered them to the orange card stock. Easy! Next Die Cut the ovals. I followed her instructions exactly and finally assembled the card base.
This was the only change to this point. I used score-tape rather than wet glue. Wet glue and me are not friends. |
Here the card base has been assembled and die cut. Straight forward and simple if you follow the instructions exactly and take it step by step.
Now time to embellish!
My sister had sent me this window card and it seemed perfect to have my "party friends" peeking through. Using a die cut, traced the windows onto Neenah Card Stock, stamped my robots and colored them with Copic Markers. A touch of Wink of Stella finished them.
Using the die, I cut it out of the glittery paper. Here I was not so smart!! I had put scor-tape on the back of the card stock for another project and forgot. So when I cut out the window die, I stupidly pulled off the scor-tape to stick it onto the card front, but the inside of the windows had scor-tape as well. Quickly cut a piece of window sheet with the same die, detached the "windows and adhered to the inside of the windows. It was a good fix and added stability to the window pieces. I think I will do that again next time, just because the structure is more solid. Good example of how a goof, can be a win! or genius innovation (I like the last thought).
Now that I had an idea of my "real estate on the front", I set about to find a die to use as my frame. I settled on Label 26 from Spellbinders. Thin enough to leave room for my window and tall enough for my oval.
Using the Grey card stock in the kit, I cut 3 and adhered to the card. I did use wet glue here.
Next step was to "fill in the holes". I chose a sentiment for the front opening and balloons for the inside, plus a message.
All that was left was to embellish the front and make an envelop.
Pictures of the images sliding as you open the card. Genius construction. Thank you Norma.
Window Open with all the Friends Waving or Smiling. I think this card would work for any age. |
Happy Crafting,
Josette
