I decided to have fun with this kit. It is such a beautiful kit and lends itself to Elegance and Serenity, but there is a playful side to it too. Look at those Rocks. They just invite fun images and playful cards. So, in thinking about this kit, I decided "what is Bamboo without a Panda?" And I went on the search for the perfect little fellow to share my Bamboo with. I found him at My Favorite Things Stamps, and he made me smile. So join me as we explore Club Scrap's Transformation with Happy Panda. I have nic- named him PoPo in honor of my friend who adores KungFu Panda.
I made three cards with this theme. The first was for the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop. If you didn't hop along, that post is just below this one.
Card one: Happy Birthday
This was actually the first card I created. I had the idea for this card when I saw the rock and bamboo in the card kit. All that was missing was a Panda. So after I found the perfect Panda, I got to work. This card is made with Masking, a whole lot of masking.
First I started with a plan and stamped out my design. Figured out what needed stamped first and the placement. The challenge here was determining what was on top of what and making sure I did not create other issues. This was apparent when I placed the Bamboo. Too far one direction or the other and it "didn't read right".

| I stamped this on white paper with black ink. There are measurements and notations written on the pattern. This was the 3rd or 4th attempt and in this one, I used the mask to make sure my thinking was on target. I used A MISTI but the same technique can be managed without a Misti as perfect placement is not essential. |

| I started with the pattern, placed the stamps, picked up the stamps with the lid of the MISTI or could be an acrylic block, positioned my card stock into position and stamped. I Stamped with Momento Ink as I will be using Copic Markers to color the images. |

Rock is stamped next and then masked off. I am using Post it Notes, but the stick is not woking so added tape to hold down.
First Bamboo Stamped. I used Momento Bamboo Leave. Later I will use a Fine Line Marker to enhance the Bamboo.

Bamboo all stamped and Image is ready for Coloring. The Coloring was very minimal. I added shading to the bamboo, and rock. Gave the little Panda's some pink cheeks.
Double click on the image to see a close up of the Bamboo Stems. Also, look at how the area around the mask was blended with the fine line pen. Often when you mask there is a halo that appears around the image. Camouflage is easy if you step back and let your eye tell you what is missing. I added grass and leaves to ground the image. Also with copic markers. Markers that were used are: C0, C1, R20, YG23, YG97, YG99, G46, G94, BG90, BG93, and BG95. The sky area BG 10 and BG 11. The rock was enhanced with W1,W3, and W5. Looks like a lot of markers and I could have done with less, but I just never seem to be finished!!! Stamped the Sentiment in Versfine and heat embossed with clear embossing powder by Hero Arts.

Card 2: Wisdom
This card is a very simple, mostly a one layer card. Sometimes we just need a quick and easy card that has little fuss. After 2 intense Panda projects, I was ready for R&R. The message seemed to want to be quiet and thoughtful and the Panda, being a wise animal was the perfect presenter. Reminds me of Confucius, for some odd reason, Anyway!
The bamboo was stamped in a pigment ink. First it was inked and stamped off. The stamping on the card is a second generation stamping. The ink was Color Box, Artichoke and was a very juicy stamp. Sentiment was stamped in versa fine, Onyx Black and embossed with clear powder. The little Bear was also stamped and embossed in the same manner. No coloring here, just Stamp, emboss, fussy cut and mount. The final card is a standard A-2 card in White, matted with green paper from the kit, and added the stamped panel with my ATG. The only area that has dimension is the sentiment and bear, these were Popped up with 3D foam squares.
