Valentine Window Shaker Card: Robin's Nest Supplies

I love glitter and window shaker cards.  But they are a pain to get the window completely sealed.  By using fun foam and double sided tape, this issue is eliminated.  You add the double sided tape to both sides of the foam, die cut and adhere the window sheet to one side and the card to the other with goodies in between.  Easy.  The video of this project is located here:  YouTube Video.  The video shows the entire process, but I will walk you through it here as well.

I started with 6mm fun foam and cover both sides with Stick-it and die cut.  The dies were taped together to form a frame.  There are several dies out that will work for this, I chose a heart for obvious reasons, Valentine's.

This is the fun foam die cut.  I removed the protective cover in the area where I will be applying the acetate and frame.

First add the film and then the glitter frame over the top.  The glitter frame also had stick-it placed on the back of the paper before cutting.

Next remove the frame from section, but leave the protective cover on the back if possible.  If not remove the cover separately and place over the adhesive.  This makes it easier to fill.  The next step is not essential but helps, I coat the inside of the frame and the acetate with baby powder to reduce the static.  Also remove any "fuzz" left from cutting.

Fill with a glittery mix.  Note the tape on the mat.  The placement of the heart and where the paper goes has been noted using the grid.  This makes placement easier.  Now remove the protective film and add paper.

I glued a few hearts onto the card mat.  This provides a few areas where there will always be "something" in the window.

Turn over and embellish.  Bet you didn't know a shaker card could be so easy!!.
All that is left is to place it onto the card base and find a recipient to give it too.

The second card was made exactly the same way, but used different embellishments and paper.

Don't forget to watch the video.  Until next time,
Happy Crafting,
Josette

  1. Cool! Easy peasy shaker! Love the cards. I need to find some fun foam so I can try this. I usually use two layers of foam tape and all the shaker bits stick to it so they don't shake. Thank you thank you for sharing this!
